If want to get all of your listserv email into one folder, I wrote the following steps. Of course email programs vary. But this will help some Outlook users:
How to put all your list server mail into one folder automatically if you are using Exchange or Microsoft Internet Mail.
(I don't know how to do this in other mail programs. If you do, send a message to mswoodruff@cwix.com with step-by-step instructions.)
Under FILE, select FOLDER and then CREATE.
Add a folder called INBOX BIOMEDICAL LISTS.
Find INBOX ASSISTANT, It is under TOOLS or MAIL depending on your version.
Select INBOX ASSISTANT and then ADD.
In the TO field enter "BIOMEDTALK" or "CMBES" or "BmElist", depending on the list you are subscribing to. (In newer versions you can enter "BIOMEDTALK;
CMBES; BmElist" to handle all three at once. In older versions, you will have to make 3 separate rules.)
On the MOVE TO pulldown, select INBOX BIOMEDICAL LISTS.
Answer OK a couple times and you are done.
Now, reading the list mail will be easier and more clear if you want to group by subject, date or string of messages. Note that you can create other
inboxes such as INBOX PERSONAL for friends and family or INBOX GARBAGE for vulgarities and "!!!" . Order your lists so when your friends send you a
vulgarity it still ends up in your personal folder.
My apologies for not knowing other mail programs, but the concept will be
similar in most. I'll post others when I get instructions.
